If you are a qualified freelance journalist with a desire to have an original story posted on beststory.ca, please send Editor Warren Perley a brief email with a summary of your journalism career or your studies in the field, along with two writing samples in PDF or Word.
If Warren confirms your qualifications, you will be emailed a 73-part Q & A dealing with all aspects of beststory.ca., together with a registration form. If after reading the Q & A, you fill in the registration form and send it back to us, you will be entered in our database as a potential contributor, meaning you can send Warren any suggestion for a story you might want to write.
Being registered does not obligate you to write; it simply puts you in a position to let us know if there is a story you wish to pursue. Once you let Warren know what story interests you, he will get back to you within a short time via email or phone to clarify the context or angle of the story you plan to write.
There are no deadlines, so it is entirely up to you, the journalist, as to when — or even if — you end up submitting the story you have in mind. However, if and when you do, you can expect a detailed editing process which can take weeks or months to complete, depending on whether you are requested to make structural changes or to do more research to clarify certain points.
No story is posted until it has been thoroughly edited and laid out professionally, incorporating high-quality graphics. BestStory.ca is interested only in quality; not quantity. We owe that to our readers...and to our writers!
You will be issued a Username and Password once your story is posted in order for you to enter the Press Club and track your story sales.
