Before you register as a reader, please take the time to read the Terms and Conditions regarding access to, and use of, the beststory.ca website.
Copyright and moral rights of all stories on the beststory.ca website belong to the individual authors. All Rights Reserved. Beststory.ca has the exclusive right to distribute these original stories worldwide via its website. No part of any article may be reproduced by digital, electronic or mechanical means.
Most photographs and graphics on the beststory.ca website belong to individual photographers, illustrators or to stock photo agencies, which retain all copyright and moral rights. No such graphic appearing on the beststory.ca website may be reproduced by digital, electronic or mechanical means. However, in some instances, historic photos with attribution to their sources and/or creators might be used — provided that such photos are in public domain, or have been released under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike 3.0 Unported License, the GFDL (GNU Free Documentation License) or a similar free license.
BestStory.ca has implemented digital locks in an attempt to prevent the copying of articles and photographs, which is a violation of Canadian and international copyright law. Please do not attempt to circumvent the digital locks, which are meant to protect our freelance writers in exercising their rights to earn a living through the sale of their articles. Any readers found to have tried to break the digital locks will have their beststory.ca User Name and Password revoked under reserve of any and all legal rights and recourses of BestStory.ca Inc. and/or of its contributors.
When readers register with beststory.ca to buy articles, all their confidential information, such as name and address, is protected by a Premium SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Certificate, the highest level of encryption security available online.
Private information, such as readers’ names and home addresses, will remain confidential and will not be shared by beststory.ca with third parties. We do not deal with advertisers or marketers. Our website is strictly for readers and writers.
By registering as a reader, you agree to provide accurate and current information about yourself as pertains to where you live and how we can contact you via email or, alternately, by phone in case there is an issue to discuss pertaining to your registration.
Every reader must register individually so that we know whether that reader lives outside Canada or inside Canada, including the province or territory of residence. We need this information in order to know whether, and how much, sales tax should be applied to story sales in Canada, as required by Revenue Canada. (There is no sales tax on stories sold to readers living outside Canada.)
Knowing where our readers live also allows our writers, using our proprietary software, to track their story sales geographically without actually knowing the identities of the readers. Knowing the geographic locations of their readers could influence the writers in selecting future subjects which they feel would be of interest to readers living in specific areas.
Each reader’s User Name and Password is non-transferrable and is intended for use by one individual reader; not by multiple readers and not by a corporate entity.
Keep your User Name and Password confidential. Sharing it with others could compromise your account information and is grounds for revoking your registration as a reader. If you become aware of the unauthorized use of your User Name and Password, you agree to notify beststory.ca.
Those who wish to register as readers must be 18 years of age or older. By registering as a reader, you represent that you are at least 18.
Readers who purchase a story will be able to store that story digitally in their Reader’s Lounge so that they can return to re-read it at any time for as long as the author chooses to keep his/her article on the BestStory.ca site. Any updates to purchased stories will be provided free of charge to the readers in their Reader’s Lounge.
Points, valued at one cent each and used to purchase individual stories, have no expiration date, meaning that readers who purchase their points in advance can use those points at any time in the future to buy any story. Points which have been purchased are non-refundable.
The opinions expressed in individual articles on beststory.ca do not necessarily reflect the views of beststory.ca, of its administration or of its Editor Warren Perley.

Should there be a perceived need for a correction, the party alleging the inaccuracy should contact beststory.ca Editor Warren Perley at warren@beststory.ca.
